Endzweig

Submitted by his son Ronni Endzweig, Netanya.
Avraham Endzwieg z”l was born on June 25 th , 1935 in Pruchnik near Drohobycz. He was the son of
Moshe and Rivka (Schmidt).
On the eve of the Second World War, the family moved to Russia and from there to Omsk in Siberia.
After the death of their younger brothers, Evraham and his brother Aryeh remained alive in Siberia
together with their parents. When the mother died in 1940, the children were transferred to a Christian
orphanage. In total there were eight Jewish children in the orphanage. They remained there until the
end of the war in 1945 when they returned to Poland and were placed in a Polish Children-home. Agents
of the “Joint” smuggled them illegally out of the orphanage. Neglected, filthy and hungry they came to
the Children-home of a wonderful Jewish couple named Boca and Sarah in the town of Gasta Pesta.
They were a group of 30 children, among them Professor Shevach Weiss, who launched normal life of
schooling including Hebrew language and work. They were treated with boundless devotion by Sarah
and Boca and the entire staff. His brother, Aryeh joined their father in Germany, but Avraham and his
group stayed for two years in Italy in a convent near Milan. With the establishment of the State of Israel,
Avraham bade farewell to Sarah and Boca. He immigrated to Israel on November 8 th , 1948 on the ship
Titi, and was sent to the "Aloney Yitzhak" youth village. There he trained in the craft of furniture
carpentry, and in 1953 enlisted in the Artillery Corps.
In 1962 Avraham married Sarah Kornfeld. In the early 1970s, he started working in the diamonds
industry in Netanya where he remained until his retirement at the age of 70.
Avraham passed away in Netanya on January 11 th , 2022. His is survived by his wife and 4 children - three
sons and a daughter, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

May his memory be for a blessing.
