Michael Tauchner z”l, the son of Shmuel (Boryslaw) and Roza ,was born on December 16th, 1948 (14 of Kislev 5709), in the DP camp Hofgeismar, in Germany. He passed away on August 26th, 2018 (15 of Elul 5778) in Kiryat Yam. His parents met in the DP camp, where his older brother, Zvi z”l was born.
In 1949 they returned to Poland and from there they made aliya to the Pardes Hanna ma’abara (refugee and new immigrant absorption camp in Israel in the 1950’s). Later on the family moved to Yaffo and his father worked as a shoemaker. When Michael was a young child he had a passion for delicious "things" and when he saw a tin box with cookies, he rolled it over and brought it to his parents and brother.
In 1967 he enlisted in the IDF and served as a combat engineer. Later he was in Naval Engineering, serving in Kibbutz Kalia.
In 1971, Michael traveled with his father to Argentina and then a made a coast-to-coast trip in the United States and met Rita. They married and had two daughters, Zehavit and Orit. In 1980 the young family returned to Israel and settled in Kiryat Yam where their youngest daughter, Adva, was born.
Michael managed an independent electrical materials business in Haifa. He was a grandfather of eight, the eldest almost fourteen and the youngest four months old.
May his memory be for a blessing.
