Wagner Schwartzblat

Submitted by his wife Ayala Wagner, Pardes Hanna towards our Annual Memorial Meeting,
remembering those who passed away in 2019 – 2020. The meeting was held via Zoom on December
24 th , 2020.
Yaakov Schwarzblat Wagner z”l , son of Yitzhak and Rivka (Schwarzblat) of Drohobycz, was born on
March 25th, 1935 in Włodzimierzec, Ukraine and passed away on December 30 th , 2018 in Hadera.
Yaakov grew up in a wealthy farming family in a small village in Ukraine.
After the outbreak of the war, Yaakov and his parents escaped when the Jewish community was
destroyed by the Nazis in cooperation with the Ukrainians. The family hid in the forests in frost and
famine until the Russians conquered Ukraine. Yaakov's father was drafted to the Russian army and fell
while in service.
At the end of the war, Yaakov and his mother stayed in a DP camp where his mother married Moshe
Wagner. After the establishment of the state, the family immigrated to Israel and built a new life in
Karkur.
Yaakov became a business partner in an electric contracting company. Later he became a partner in an
insurance agency.
Yaakov married Ayala (Hinda) Rosenman. Together they raised three sons and a daughter in Pardes
Hanna - Karkur.
